§ 5.10. TERMS OF OFFICE AND VACANCIES.

(a) The city and ward officers so chosen shall hold their respective offices for two (2) years from the first Tuesday in January next following the election and until others are chosen and qualified. Should a vacancy occur in the office of the mayor, the office of commissioner of welfare or alderman, the board of aldermen shall fill such vacancy for the unexpired term.
(b) Should such a vacancy occur in the office of school committeeman, the board of aldermen shall fill such vacancy.
(c) Unexpired term shall mean the remainder of the term or period until a successor is elected and sworn in to fill such term under the provisions of this charter.
